INSPIRING GENERATIONS IN FATEHPUR
From being the center of many battles of India’s independence to being an important center for culture, literature, religion, sport, heritage and history, Fatehpur has etched it’s mark in the chronicles of India. Known to be as old as the Vedic era, Fatehpur has found mentions in the chronicles of Cunningham and Huen Tsang. The city between two holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna, was founded by Rishi Purwar and later on he became the King of city During reign of the Mughals and also during Gupta empire, many localities of Fatehpur were developed and the city converted into a prosperous business center. Many majestic buildings came up in Bhitura, Imali, Shivrajpuri and Renh, and exist even today in very good condition.
As the nearby trade centers prospered, the city started gradually slipping into oblivion, however, that does not mean that Fatehpur has lost any of its glory or charm!
One of India’s better known Prime Minister V.P. Singh, noted poet Sohan Lal Dwivedi, renowned author and Urdu fiction writer Padma Bhushan Niaz Fatehpuri and freedom fighter Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi all have their roots in the city of Fatehpur.
